About Gothicans
A gathering place for the goth, alternative, and dark-aesthetic community.
Gothicans exists because mainstream social networks flatten subcultures into engagement metrics and hand moderation to keyword filters that punish the people they claim to protect.
Here, the aesthetic is the point. Gothicans brings together social feeds, matchmaking, expressive profiles, events, a marketplace, and a job board — all in one home built for our scene, by people who live it.
Principles
- Reflective moderation No automated keyword bans on mental-health language. Reports are reviewed by humans, and context labels add resources instead of removing content.
- Expression with guardrails Custom profile CSS and HTML are sanitized server-side and rendered inside a sandboxed container so self-expression never becomes an attack vector.
- No surveillance economy No ad tracking, no behavioural profiling, no data resale.
